If you have been invited to complete an online survey on behalf of your school find out more information here about what is involved.
If you took part in the COVID-19 School Infection Survey, you are being invited to complete an online survey (questionnaire) on behalf of your school, staff and pupils.
The survey is open until the 23rd May. ONS have sent you an email with a link to the survey.
What is the survey for?
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) have commissioned the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) to evaluate the COVID-19 School Infection Survey (SIS).
As part of the evaluation, NatCen are asking headteachers of schools that took part in SIS to complete a short online survey. The survey asks questions about the reasons for and experiences of participating in SIS.
Findings from the survey will be used to report on how well the COVID-19 School Infection Survey has achieved its aims. It will also aim to understand the impact of ONS’s contribution to the pandemic response, and identify lessons, successes and challenges to inform future programmes.
Who are NatCen?
The National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) is a non-profit organisation, independent of all government departments and political parties. We have 50 years’ experience of social research.
Why have I been asked to take part?
You have been asked to complete the survey because your school took part in the COVID-19 School Infection Survey. SIS was designed and delivered by the ONS to assess the role of schools in coronavirus transmission and how transmission within and from school settings can be minimised.
If you don’t think you are the right person to complete the survey, please contact us at SISEvaluation@natcen.ac.uk or 0207 549 7019.
What information has NatCen received about me?
NatCen has not been provided with any contact details. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) have contacted you on our behalf with the contact details your school provided during your participation in SIS.
What will NatCen do with the information I provide?
The survey contains questions about your school, your reasons for participating in SIS, and your experience of programme delivery (e.g. communication, level of support received from ONS).
We will not ask you for any further personal details about yourself, apart from your contact details if you say you are happy to be contacted about further case study research, but this is optional. Your school will also not be identified in the report of our findings. NatCen will carefully manage your personal data as part of our public task, which is our lawful basis for processing. All the information you provide will be held securely and in strict confidence in accordance with the GDPR.
The information you provide will be used to write a report for the ONS. We will not identify you in the reports or presentations of the evaluation findings. Your personal details and the interview data collected will be deleted as soon as possible after the completion of the project. For more information on how we will manage your personal data, please see our privacy notice.
Do I have to take part?
Participation in the survey is voluntary. If there is a question you don’t want to answer, you will have the opportunity to answer ‘Prefer not to say’.
How do I take part?
The survey is open until the 23rd May. You have been sent an email invitation to take part, including a link to the online questionnaire. It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. You may also be sent up to two reminders to the same email address.
