- How can I find out about current vacancies at ScotCen?
All of our live vacancies can be found on the ‘job opportunities’ section of our website. You will be able to apply via this link. The vacancy list on the website is updated when we have new vacancies.
- What is the recruitment process at ScotCen after you have applied?
Once you have applied for a role at ScotCen Social Research by email (excluding freelance nurses, telephone, interpreters and face-to-face interviewer applications), you will be given receipt of your application. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to interview, within 10 days of the closing deadline unless otherwise stated on the advert. The interview process may involve some testing depending on the role you have applied for. At the interview, you will have the opportunity to meet your line manager or group director.
- How do I apply for a freelance position?

- Can I get feedback if I am not shortlisted to attend an interview?
Due to the volume of applications ScotCen receives, we regret that we are not able to provide detailed feedback to applicants that were not shortlisted. However, we will provide feedback to all unsuccessful candidates who have attended an interview with us.
- What are the working hours?
ScotCen’s normal operating hours are dependant on the location and the role. All full-time employees are expected to work 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with one hour unpaid for lunch.

- Do you offer work experience or summer internships?
Occasionally, we do offer internship opportunities across our Research departments. We would advertise these on the ‘job opportunities’ section of our website. You can also follow us on Twitter to keep updated.
- Can I send in a speculative CV?
Regrettably, we do not accept speculative CVs and ask that you wait until a suitable vacancy is advertised before submitting your CV.
- Do you employ candidates who require visas?
ScotCen is able to sponsor applicants for research positions under the Tier 2 category; however we are not normally able to sponsor candidates requiring visas for support roles, except in exceptional circumstances. Possible options will be discussed with you at the appointment stage, should you require a visa. For further information please visit the Home Office website.
- When will referees be approached for references?
We ask that you provide two referees who are able to verify your last three years of employment. Referees will not be contacted without the candidate's permission and is usually done once we have offered a post to the successful candidate.
