Tanya Basi

Researcher

Children, Families & Work

Tanya Basi is a mixed-methods Researcher in the Children, Families and Work team.

She works on a variety of projects at NatCen, including the Survey of Childcare and Early Years Providers for the Department for Education and the evaluation of the lower-tiered benefit cap for the Department for Work and Pensions. She is particularly interested in childcare and education policies, mental health in schools and social inequality.

Tanya graduated with a degree in Psychological and Behaviour sciences from the University of Cambridge. She completed her research dissertation with the Centre for Family Research exploring the psychological development of children from ‘single mother by choice’ families.

After graduating, she continued to conduct research for the Centre for Family Research while working at a market research agency on a range of qualitative and quantitative projects.
