Loraine Bussard is a Researcher in the Children, Families & Work team.
Since joining NatCen in 2015, Loraine has been working on a number of qualitative and mixed methods education projects. This includes research into Special Education Needs and Disabilities as a part of the Study of Early Education & Development (SEED) funded by the Department of Education (DfE), as well as the large-scale evaluation of the Switch-on literacy intervention. She has also worked on benefit and back to work programmes for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), notably an evaluation of the Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) pilot programmes.
Prior to NatCen, Loraine has worked in the third sector, doing policy and applied research notably for charities doing advocacy and delivering support to vulnerable groups. She holds postgraduate degrees in Politics from the University of Kent and from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Lille.
Loraine has an interest in innovative and participative research methodologies.
